Our church local mission team has an update:
Pregnancy Resource Center Baby Bottle Drive
It’s back!!! Last year we could not participate in the Baby Bottle Fundraiser Drive for the Grundy/So.Will County Pregnancy Resource Center in Coal City due to Covid.
As usual, we will have empty baby bottles out on a table at church for you all to take and fill with coins, cash or checks (to the Pregnancy Resource Center) Mother’s Day, May 9 and will run until Father’s Day. All funds will be given to the center to help with its mission to help women.
There will also be an option to give virtually, more info to come
The Coal City center lies within our county, so we have supported it with this fundraiser for five years, you all have shown up in big ways and this year, our local non-profits need us even more after a low donation year in 2020, which has trickled into 2021.
The Pregnancy Resource Center offers free testing, ultrasound, education, counseling and more to women of all ages who may think they are pregnant, are pregnant and not sure what to do about the pregnancy and postpartum.
Majestic Kids Royal Family Kids Camp
Another return!! We have supported Royal Family Kids Camp through Majestic Kids for several years. We have sponsored the birthday party, gifts, and our church provides several volunteers for the camp and it’s mentorship program. This local nonprofit offers a weeklong camp, and a mentorship program for children in Kendall, Grundy, and Will County who are in the foster system. It’s so important to be a guiding light in his kids’ lives as they navigate tough paths.
Last year camp was canceled and in 2021, camp will be a one-day affair.
We have been asked once again to help with the camp, and we have chosen to provide the birthday presents for the kids.
The director of camp, has expressed a desire to buy longboards for all the children, and she has a great price, $40 a piece, she just needs the funds. This is where all of you come in. We are needing to raise $2500 to pay for longboards for all the children. She felt raising money was a better option than purchasing long boards ourselves as retail is almost double of what the camp directors can purchase these.
We will have a donation box set up with the bottle drive and this will close May 30. We will take cash and checks made to Majestic Kids and put longboards in the memo.
